Welcome aboard, dear fellow sky travelers! I'm your aerial tour guide, and today I'll be taking you on a breathtaking adventure above the magnificent islands of Cape Verde. Fasten your seatbelts and prepare your cameras, because the show is about to begin!
Departure from Aristides Pereira International Airport (GVBA), Boa Vista Island.
We'll begin our exciting aerial exploration by taking off from Aristides Pereira International Airport, located on the sunny island of Boa Vista. As we ascend, you'll be able to admire the long stretches of golden beaches and the sand dunes that characterize this jewel of the archipelago.
First Point of Interest: Flyover of Sal Island.
We'll set our course northwest, towards the island of Sal. From above, you can observe the lunar landscape of this island, famous for its salt pans (from which the name "Sal" derives) and its beaches perfect for windsurfing and kitesurfing. We'll try to spot the lively town of Santa Maria from above, with its iconic pier.
Second Point of Interest: Flyover of São Vicente Island.
We'll continue our flight westward, reaching the island of São Vicente, the cultural heart of Cape Verde. We'll admire the natural harbor of Mindelo from above, one of the most charming cities in the archipelago, nestled among the mountains. If conditions permit, we might catch a glimpse of Monte Cara, whose shape resembles a human face looking towards the sky.
Third Point of Interest: Flyover of Santo Antão Island.
Prepare to be enchanted by the majesty of Santo Antão, the most mountainous and green island of the archipelago. We'll fly over deep gorges, lush valleys, and imposing peaks that seem to touch the clouds. The chromatic contrasts of this island seen from above are simply spectacular.
Fourth Point of Interest: Flyover of São Nicolau Island.
Our route will now lead us southeast, flying over the island of São Nicolau, an oasis of tranquility with varied landscapes ranging from arid zones to greener areas. We'll try to spot its picturesque villages and jagged coastlines from above.
Fifth Point of Interest: Flyover of Santiago Island.
We will then approach the largest island of Cape Verde, Santiago, where the capital Praia is located. From above, you can appreciate its geographical diversity, from the mountains inland to the volcanic beaches along the coast. We'll try to spot the city of Praia and, if possible, the historic Cidade Velha, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Sixth Point of Interest: Flyover of Fogo Island.
Get ready to witness a unique natural spectacle: the active volcano of Fogo, which dominates the island with its imposing caldera. We'll fly over this sleeping giant, admiring the lunar landscapes created by past eruptions and the villages that rise at its feet.
Seventh Point of Interest: Flyover of Brava and Maio Islands (panoramic view).
Depending on weather conditions and the duration of the flight, we may get a panoramic view of the smaller and less inhabited islands of Brava and Maio, each with its own particular charm. Brava, the island of flowers, and Maio, with its long, isolated beaches.
Return to Aristides Pereira International Airport (GVBA).
After admiring these wonders from above, we'll set course to return to our starting point, Aristides Pereira International Airport in Boa Vista, carrying with us unforgettable memories of this extraordinary aerial tour of Cape Verde.
